H.E.A.T. FAQ v1.1
by Adam Lima (Silver Age Adam)
WHAT IS H.E.A.T.?
H.E.A.T. is an acronym that stands for Hal's Emerald Advancement Team. We have a diverse membership that is united behind this mission statement: "As Green Lantern fans, it is our goal to encourage and advocate the return and exoneration of Hal Jordan as Green Lantern, the restoration of the Green Lantern legend, and the revival of the
honorable Green Lantern Corps."
In a broader sense, we stand for quality comic books, responsible storytelling and respect for traditional comic book characters and their preservation for the enjoyment of future generations of fans.
WHAT DOES H.E.A.T. DO?
We, as a group, think such actions as advertising, writing non-offensive letters of opinion, and posting on various points on the internet ar eone of the best ways to achieve our goals.
The organization does more than lobby DC comics for the return of Hal Jordan. We were instrumental in raising the airfare for John Broome (Green Lantern's other co-creator) to attend the 1998 San Diego Comicon. It was the only con he ever attended before his passing. In 1999 we collected almost 10,000 comic books that we donated to children's
hospitals.
In 2002 H.E.A.T. created the Gil Kane Scholarship at the New York School of Art. At this time without a corporate sponsor, this scholarship is only available for one year.
HOW LONG HAS H.E.A.T. BEEN AROUND?
H.E.A.T. was formed in 1996 out of frustration with DC Comics editorial indifference to fan reaction over the treatment of Hal Jordan.
